With our latest April update, we are setting a new benchmark in incident management excellence. The Signl-Center in our web portal has undergone a major redesign, delivering a superior, more intuitive layout, enhanced tracking of notifications and escalation workflows, and an upgraded incident chat — redefining how operations and maintenance teams coordinate under pressure.
Our powerful new Shift Calendar now supports multi-tier shift structures, enabling seamless employee scheduling across different layers. This innovation empowers teams to respond faster and smarter, supporting phased staff notifications — such as escalating alerts to a standby colleague only after a specified response time — ensuring maximum efficiency and resilience.
With tiers or layers in shift and duty scheduling also comes improved inbound call routing with escalations to other teams members and tiers, e.g. in case of unavailability.
In addition, we’re introducing AI-powered shift and duty scheduling. Leveraging intelligent pattern detection, our system now automatically plans future shifts and on-call duties up to three months in advance — dramatically reducing administrative overhead and freeing teams to focus on what matters most.
The mobile experience has also been taken to the next level. A new mode in the Signl overview centers communication around the incident chat, enabling instant messaging for each Signl without the need to open details. Moreover, we’ve reimagined the timeline widget in the Signl details, offering a crystal-clear view of all lifecycle and notification events for effortless situational awareness.
For a deep dive into all the enhancements, please read on.
Completely revamped Signl-Center for improved situational awareness
The Signl-Center in the web portal has been completely redesigned, now offering:
- A fresh bento-style layout for optimized structure and space usage
- Instant action buttons in the overview to quickly respond to Signls (acknowledge, close, etc.)
- Alert-Lifecycle tabs for quick access to Signls based on their current status
- A modernized detail view with modular widgets and focused tabs for areas like chat, parameters, and attachments
We placed special emphasis on faster and more efficient incident handling — making chat access and notification tracking just a click away. It now takes only seconds to check whether notifications were successfully delivered or escalated to another shift tier or team.
Additionally, you can instantly export notification and escalation logs as a CSV file, making it easy to share and analyze incident response data externally.

Shift Calendar with Tiers and In-Team-Escalations
The shift calendar in your SIGNL4 team now allows you to organize staff assignments across multiple shift tiers. Employees are assigned to specific tiers, with tier 1 always being the first to be notified. Additional tiers act as backup or standby levels, ensuring that if no response is received within the configured response time, SIGNL4 will escalate the alert to the next tier.
You can create and manage these shift tiers in the shift settings dialog and define how many team members are expected to be on duty in each tier.

Once your tiers are defined, you can assign shifts accordingly based on the planned staffing levels for each tier.

When an incident is routed to a team’s shift, SIGNL4 will notify only the on-duty members of tier 1. If the Signl goes unanswered and the configured tier response time expires, the system will escalate the alert to the next tier.
Escalation to other teams within your SIGNL4 account remains unchanged and will continue to occur if the general team response time elapses. Both response times can be configured in your team’s “Signaling” section.

Enhanced Call Routing with Escalations
With tiers in shift and duty staffing also comes improved inbound call routing, and call transfer to staff on duty. SIGNL4 now considers all members on duty for a specific team and automatically escalates the incoming call from one person to another, in case the first person does not answer the phone. If you have people scheduled on multiple tiers, inbound calls are also escalated from one tier to the next.
AI-powered Shift and Duty Scheduling
We’ve redefined shift scheduling with the power of AI. Our system now intuitively recognizes your team’s rotation patterns and can automatically generate future shift schedules — with a single click and for up to three months.
Activating this capability is effortless: simply select a calendar day — ideally the first unassigned day in your team’s shift calendar — and launch the planning dialog. From there, choose the historical period that best represents your rotation model. A complete cycle ensures maximum accuracy for pattern recognition.
You then have full control: define when the automated planning should begin, how far into the future it should extend, and which team members should be included. It’s precision scheduling — faster, smarter, and designed to keep your operations running at peak performance.
The AI is only making a proposal by assigning team members based on detected patterns. Of course, you change these assignments any time and adjust the duties of your team members.

New Chat View in the Mobile App
In the mobile app, you can now activate a new chat mode in the Signl overview. Simply tap the chat icon in the top right corner to switch to the chat view. From there, you can easily comment on all existing Signls in a single view and communicate with colleagues about ongoing incidents.

New Lifecycle View in the Mobile App
In the Signl details of the mobile app, we’ve completely redesigned the timeline and transformed it into a lifecycle and notification widget. You can now view the entire lifecycle, including all notifications and any escalations, at a glance. This makes it easy to instantly see whether an escalation has already occurred in case a notification was missed.

We hope you enjoy exploring all the new features and enhancements! 😊
