October 2023 Update – New layout, additional cross links, improved event filtering and much more

Oct 5, 2023 | Updates

Our October update brings a new layout in the web portal, new additional cross-references from Signl details to linked entities, and improved grouping options for conditions in the distribution rules. As always, all the details are in this blog article.

Web portal with new layout

The layout of the SIGNL4 Web Portal has been thoughtfully redesigned for improved usability. The new layout is now responsive, allowing it to adapt more flexibly to different screen sizes. This marks a significant milestone on the path to further enhanced usability, with plans to display even more content on larger screens. However, the centered “boxed design” is now a thing of the past.

New usability features include a fixed menu on the left side of the screen that can no longer be scrolled away, enabling users to access different menu items from any position on the page instantly.

Additionally, a more harmonized user experience is achieved through the header image, which also remains visible within the viewport as it is no longer scrolled out of view. This ensures that corporate branding, for example, remains visible at all times.

Additional Cross-References in Signl Details

In the Signls section (known as the Signl Center), there are now new cross-references in the details of a Signl linking to associated entities in SIGNL4. This includes:

  1. The event that triggered the Signl via a distribution rule, provided it was not manually triggered.
  2. The distribution rule whose criteria matched the event and created the Signl for the respective team.
  3. A signaling override (if applicable) that determined the alerting process for this Signl based on time or category.
  4. The team for which the Signl was created (specified in the distribution rule or selected during manual triggering).
  5. The category assigned to it (keyword assignment or allocation in the distribution rule or defined during manual triggering).

If access rights for the logged-in user exist for such linked entities, the information will be displayed as a link and, when clicked, will immediately open the details of the entity.

This now makes it significantly easier to understand why the Signl was created and why the alerting may have been conducted differently (perhaps unexpectedly) due to an applied signaling override.

Event filter with improved conditions

SIGNL4 distribution rules determine which received events ultimately trigger Signls through conditions (known as event filtering).

The logic of conditions can now be created more easily by selecting previously created conditions and then logically combining them with AND or OR operators. Previously, for such logical combinations, the condition group had to be created first, and then the linked conditions could be added within it.

Instead, it is now possible to select existing conditions via checkboxes and then group them in the action bar.
