Why SIGNL4
Mobile workers are not able to sit in front of a Checkmk dashboard and actively monitor problems. SIGNL4 enables Checkmk to notify the mobile teams in the field or on call in real-time. This speeds up their response significantly and frees resources in the operations.
How it Works
Checkmk sends detailed problem information by using a webhook or email to SIGNL4, informing the on-call team or technician. The Checkmk connector in SIGNL4 allows status updates to be sent directly from the SIGNL4 mobile app, like acknowledging an alert. This ensures both SIGNL4 and Checkmk dashboard users have real-time information on problem resolution status. If Checkmk recognizes a solution (UP), it automatically updates SIGNL4 and closes the alarm.

Scenarios
Integration Type
Tickets and Incidents in Checkmk are retrieved via the SIGNL4 connector app incl. back channel for updating tickets
Event categorization, routing and automated delivery based on availability, duty schedules, etc.
Persistent Notifications by push, text and voice call with Tracking, Escalation and Confirmation to Staff on Duty
Checkmk 2.0 and higher:In Checkmk version 2 and later SIGNL4 is available as a build-in notification channel. You can configure it directly in your notification settings. You just have to enter the the SIGNL4 team secret here.
Two-way integration
For two-way communication there is a Checkmk connector app available in SIGNL4 under Teams -> Apps -> Checkmk. This connector app adds two-way functionality to SIGNL4 alerting in Checkmk. It allows you to acknowledge, close or annotate Checkmk events directly from within your SIGNL4 app.
In order to use the Connector you need to make sure you have Checkmk 2.0 or higher installed and SIGNL4 alerting activated. The configuration of the Checkmk connector app is straightforward. You just need the Checkmk username, password and the public-facing URL to your Checkmk server. The user account needs to have the according access rights for the Checkmk REST API.
Older versions of Checkmk
For older versions of Checkmk Derdack provides a dedicated plugin for Checkmk here: https://exchange.checkmk.com/p/signl4
You can also find the integration scripts on GitHub: https://github.com/signl4/signl4-integration-checkmk. Just go ahead, download the respective plugin from there and follow the instructions on the page.
The following video shows how to integrate SIGNL4 with Checkmk 2.0.
Alert Optimization
SIGNL4 can further increase the visibility of alerts through its Signals and Services categories. Augmenting the color and icon of alerts will provide more relevant information at a glance without having to open the alert. You can also augment ticket alerts with maps or change the subject or message to a more comprehensible content.
Alert categories in SIGNL4 also allow to group ticket alerts and even to route those ticket notifications to your staff based on skills or other criteria. Screenshots show how to override text, colors and titles are triggered by keywords set within the mobile app.
