Mobile alerting with tracking & escalation for Checkmk

Mobile workers are not able to sit in front of a Checkmk dashboard and actively monitor problems. SIGNL4 enables Checkmk to notify the mobile teams in the field or on call in real-time. This speeds up their response significantly and frees resources in the operations.

 How it Works

Checkmk compatibility allows you to distribute operational alerts to a mobile SIGNL4 team by using a webhook or email. Persistent notifications and acknowledgement requirements ensure that issues will be handled before it is too late.

 Integration Capabilities

  • IT staff is alerted via mobile push, text and call
  • Staff can acknowledge and take ownership for critical events that occur
  • Alerts are escalated in case of no response
  • Communicate within an alert to address a particular problem
  • Inbound webhook or email establishes connection from Checkmk to SIGNL4
  • On-call scheduling to alert the right people at the right time
  • Acknowledgements in the app are reflected in Checkmk

  • System Monitoring
  • Application Monitoring
  • Network Monitoring
  • Database Monitoring

Tickets and Incidents in Checkmk are retrieved via the SIGNL4 connector app incl. back channel for updating tickets

Checkmk 2.0 and higher:In Checkmk version 2 and later SIGNL4 is available as a build-in notification channel. You can configure it directly in your notification settings.

Two-way integration

For two-way communication there is a Checkmk connector app available in SIGNL4 under Apps -> Checkmk. This connector app adds two-way functionality to SIGNL4 alerting in Checkmk. It allows you to acknowledge, close or annotate Checkmk events directly from within your SIGNL4 app.

In order to use the Connector you need to make sure you have Checkmk 2.0 or higher installed and SIGNL4 alerting activated. The configuration of the Checkmk connector app is straightforward. You just need the Checkmk username, password and the public-facing URL to your Checkmk server. The user account needs to have the according access rights for the Checkmk REST API.

Older versions of Checkmk

For older versions of Checkmk Derdack provides a dedicated plugin for Checkmk here:

You can also find the integration scripts on GitHub: Just go ahead, download the respective plugin from there and follow the instructions on the page.

The following video shows how to integrate SIGNL4 with Checkmk 2.0.

SIGNL4 can further increase the visibility of alerts through its Signals and Services section. Augmenting the color and icon of alerts will provide more relevant information at a glance without having to open the alert.

Change alert color and override title + text

Override text, colors and titles are triggered by keywords set within the mobile app.
