When critical systems fail, SIGNL4 is the fastest way to alert your staff, engineers, IT admins on call and “in the field”. SIGNL4 provides reliable notifications via mobile app push, text and voice calls with tracking, escalations and duty scheduling. Discover how to integrate with Zabbix 5.0.
Mobile workers are not able to sit in front of a Zabbix dashboard and actively monitor problems. SIGNL4 enables Zabbix to notify the mobile teams in the field or on call in real-time. This speeds up their response significantly and frees resources in the operations.
Pairing Zabbix with SIGNL4 can enhance your daily operations with an extension to your team wherever it is. The two-way integration allows service engineers or IT administrators not only to receive alerts but also to acknowledge, annotate and close alerts, no matter where they are.
How it Works
Zabbix compatibility allows you to distribute operational alerts to a mobile SIGNL4 team by using a webhook or email. Persistent notifications and acknowledgement requirements ensure that issues will be handled before it is too late. It is also possible to acknowledge, annotate and close alerts directly from the mobile app. This information is then immediately available in Zabbix as well.
IT staff is alerted via mobile push, text and call
Staff can acknowledge and take ownership for critical events that occur
Alerts are escalated in case of no response
Communicate within an alert to address a particular problem
Inbound webhook or email establishes connection from Zabbix to SIGNL4
On-call scheduling to alert the right people at the right time
Two-way integration for acknowledgement, annotations and close
Incidents in Zabbix are forwarded to SIGNL4 via webhook plugin and the SIGNL4 connector app creates a back channel for updating incidents
Event categorization, routing and automated delivery
Persistent Notifications by push, text and voice call with Tracking, Escalation and Confirmation to Staff on Duty

HOW TO INTEGRATE
Since Zabbix 5.0 SIGNL4 is an integral part of Zabbix and available as a Media Type for Alerting. SIGNL4 can also be added as Media Type for previous Zabbix versions. The SIGNL4 Media Type allows you to forward problems from Zabbix to a SIGNL4 team.
With SIGNL4 it is also possible to acknowledge, annotate and close alerts directly from the SIGNL4 app. To forward this information back to Zabbix, you need to configure the Zabbix connector in your SIGNL4 portal under Apps.
With Zabbix 6.4 and higher the authentication method has changed. With SIGNL4 you need to use the Zabbix API Token instead of username and password. You can obtain the Zabbix API token as described here. Please note that in this case the Apache Web server on Zabbix side needs to pass the Authorization header. If this should not be the case you can check this discussion here.
For older Zabbix versions SIGNL4 provides a dedicated integration for Zabbix here. You can also find the integration scripts on GitHub. Just go ahead, download the respective alert scripts from there and follow the instructions on the page.
Here is a video showing this integration:
ALERT OPTIMIZATION SIGNL4 can further increase the visibility of alerts through its Signals and Services section. Augmenting the color and icon of alerts will provide more relevant information at a glance without having to open the alert.
Change alert color and override title + text
Override text, colors and titles are triggered by keywords set within the mobile app.
