Mobile alerting with tracking & escalation for Raygun

Raygun is a hybrid monitoring tool that detects, diagnoses and resolves issues related to applications. Raygun will send out emails but where SIGNL4 comes in is the ease of managing an on-call team with instant collaboration and ownership of those alerts.   Persistent notifications and tier escalation within SIGNL4 ensures that critical alarms are not missed. Issues are taken beyond the dashboard and inbox and delivered vis Push, SMS, and Voice.

 How it Works

The SIGNL4 team email address intercepts notifications and alerts on call team members to enable mobile notification and alerting capabilities for operational and network teams.

 Integration Capabilities

  • Forwards Raygun emails to SIGNL4 for mobile alerting

  • Communicate within an alert to address a problem
  • Alerts are escalated in case of no response
  • On-call scheduling to alert the right people at the right time

  • Application Monitoring

Persistent Notifications by push, text and voice call with Tracking, Escalation and Confirmation to Staff on Duty

In our example we are using Raygun to monitor the number of database calls within an application.  We are forwarding SMTP notifications to the SIGNL4 team email address to receive the alerts.

SIGNL4 is a mobile alert notification app for powerful alerting, alert management and mobile assignment of work items.  Get the app at https://www.signl4.com

A SIGNL4 (https://www.signl4.com) account

A Raygun (http://www.raygun.com) account

First let’s create the SIGNL4 user. From the top left navigation menu on the left side click on Invite Team.  The invite will come to the SIGNL4 mobile app where you can validate the email.

Then make sure the user is assigned to the associated Application within Raygun. Under Manage Teams make sure the application and the users are listed.

Now lets assign an incident to the user that we just created. Within the application click on Issues and select an issue to assign. On the Top right hand side click on the drop down box for Assign to and select the SIGNL4 user.

This will then immediately send an email alert to the SIGNL4 team.

Depending on the Issue that you selected the subject line may not be desirable. From the SIGNL4 mobile app go to settings > Services & Systems and overwrite the text, color and icon.  You also want to set a keyword for this category to trigger when the next alert comes in.

SIGNL4 can further increase the visibility of alerts through its Signals and Services section. Augmenting the color and icon of alerts will provide more relevant information at a glance without having to open the alert.

Change alert color and override title + text

Override text, colors and titles are triggered by keywords set within the mobile app.
