You have 2 options. Either you start the registration here with the browser or you download the app from the app store and register via the mobile app. You can either use your email address or an existing account at Google, Microsoft or Apple. Click here to sign up. If you signed up with an email address, you will get a confirmation link that you need to click. If you signed up using the mobile app, you'll receive a code to your email address that you'll need to enter in the app to confirm. If you have not signed up via Google, Microsoft or Apple, you will be sent a password by the system. You can change this password later.
Install the mobile app
If you haven't registered for the test via the mobile app, now is the time to install SIGNL4's mobile app. It is the heart for mobile alerts, acknowledgement and management of alarms. When you launch the app for the first time, give it permission to receive push messages. Log in to the app the same way you registered, e.g. via Google, Microsoft, Apple or with your email address and password.
Check your duty status
When the app opens, make sure your status is set to "On Duty". If not, press the big round circle with the person icon (or your profile picture you may have already created) to log in. You will only receive alerts when you are on duty. Signing in and out of duty via tap in the mobile app is just one way to manage your time availability. Another is the integrated duty scheduling. Configure alert notifications
Now press the gear icon at the top right of the mobile app and go to the menu item 'Alerting'. Push should be activated there for immediate alerting. You can also set SMS and call. But first you have to verify the phone number of your phone in the menu under 'My profile'. Once you have entered the number, you will receive a code via SMS for verification. After that you can also set SMS text and voice calls as a notification channel. Including a time sequence.
Send your first alert
Next, log in to the account portal. SIGNL4 has already created a team for with your test account, of which you are the first member. In the account portal you can make various settings, but we will now only look at how your team can be reached with an alert. Click on the menu 'Integrations' and then 'Installed'. There you will find a tile 'SMTP Mail'. When you click on it, it will open. Under 'Mail address' there is an email address, ending with @mail.signl4.com. This is the one where your team can be reached. Now send an email with any content to this email address (you can copy the email using the Copy button). SIGNL4 will convert this email into an alert and you will get it via push to your mobile device and possibly via SMS text and call if you have configured that.
Acknowledge the alert
Each alarm in SIGNL4 has three possible states: new, acknowledged and closed. New alarms always require an acknowledgement, otherwise the alarm will continue and, if configured, an escalation will be performed. To acknowledge an alarm, press the number under 'New' on the dashboard in the app or press the large circle with the number in the middle. Both will open a list of alarms. You can now acknowledge the alarm directly in the list by pressing the question mark. Or you press on the list entry itself to see all details of the alarm. In the detail view you can also acknowledge the alarm by pressing the circle with the question mark. All other team members will now see that you have accepted the alarm.
Invite others to your team
Typically, your on-call team consists of several colleagues, one or more of whom are on duty at the same time. You can easily add them to SIGNL4 by sending them an invitation via email. You can do this in the SIGNL4 web portal or in the mobile app (press "All Teams" on the dashboard, the "All Members" on your team tile and then "Invite" at the bottom). Enter your colleague's email address and SIGNL4 will send them an email with more information.
Connect your system(s)
You have generated your first alert via e-mail. However, SIGNL4 has many other interfaces and is now also built into numerous systems, e.g. for monitoring IT. You can find an overview of all tested systems here. There is also an in-house library of connectors that can be used to quickly and easily connect third-party systems such as the ConnectWise, ServiceNow and IoT platforms to SIGNL4. SIGNL4 then independently retrieves the alarm-relevant events from the third-party system. SIGNL4 can therefore process data from a variety of systems and be used as a consolidated alerting solution.

Categorize alerts and filter events
SIGNL4 has the possibility to categorize alarms. This allows alarms to be signaled with their own colors, icons and ring tones. This makes it easier to identify which system is affected or the severity of an alarm. The categorization can also be used to enrich alarms with further information, e.g. maps, or to forward alarms to specific employees with suitable skills or knowledge. And it also provides a way to filter events, thus helping to 'cut through the noise'.
