Mobile alerting with tracking & escalation for Sematext
Sematext is a hybrid monitoring service capable of detecting and troubleshoot production & performance issues with logs, metrics, and real user monitoring. Performance monitors are easy to configure, and notifications channels are configured with just a few clicks. SIGNL4 ensures that all on duty members receive, acknowledge and resolve critical alerts, all from their smartphones. With persistent notifications and escalation chains there will never be a critical alert that goes unattended. SIGNL4 also offers ad-hoc collaboration between team members for each alert, so Subject Matter Experts can be looped in to help resolve issues.
How it Works

How To Integrate
Integrating SIGNL4 with Sematext
In our example we are using Sematext to monitor the heartbeat of critical servers. We are setting up a webhook to send alerts to the SIGNL4 team when the server is unreachable.
SIGNL4 is a mobile alert notification app for powerful alerting, alert management and mobile assignment of work items. Get the app at https://www.signl4.com
First we need to establish a connection to SIGNL4 using a webhook.
Navigate to Notification hooks and create a new webhook.
Specify URL endpoint for target webhook
Specify the payload sent as JSON
Specify web method to use for this endpoint (POST)
Now, the last step is to tell Sematext what notifications and from what resources need to be published to this custom Webhook. Navigate Alert Rules and edit the Heartbeat Check. On the Notifications tab ensure that the S4 Webhook we created is listed under the ‘Send’ to section.
We tested this using a custom parameters in the Webhook configuration. Sematext did a nice job of adding custom parameters and SIGNL4 interpreted that data as 1:1 parameter and separated the data into easy to read boxes. We further augmented the signals using the Services & Systems settings with SIGNL4’s mobile app to give it a nice color and custom icon.
SIGNL4 can further increase the visibility of alerts through its Signals and Services section. Augmenting the color and icon of alerts will provide more relevant information at a glance without having to open the alert.
Change Alert Color and Override Title + Text
Override text, colors and titles are triggered by keywords set within the mobile app.
