Mobile alerting with tracking & escalation for Instana
When critical systems fail, SIGNL4 is the fastest way to alert your staff, engineers, IT admins on call and “in the field”. SIGNL4 provides reliable notifications via mobile app push, text and voice calls with tracking, escalations and duty scheduling.
Instana is a monitoring platform for application performance monitoring, application performance analysis, root cause analysis and distributed tracing and analysis. Pairing Instana with SIGNL4 can enhance your daily operations with an extension to your team wherever it is. The integration does not only allow you to know when a critical issue has occurred but also when it was resolved no matter where you are.
How it Works
Instana compatibility allows you to distribute operational alerts to a mobile SIGNL4 team by using a ready-made plugin. Persistent notifications and acknowledgement requirements ensure that issues will be handled before it is too late.

How To Integrate
Integrating SIGNL4 with Instana
The integration of Instana and SIGNL4 is done using the Alert Channel Generic Webhook in Instana. This one sends an HTTP request to SIGNL4 in order to trigger the alert.
Below we describe the steps necessary to integrate the SIGNL4 with Instana.
1. Add the Alert Channel
In the Instana portal go to Settings -> Alert Channels. Add a new alert channel and choose Generic Webhook. Here you just need to enter your SIGNL4 webhook URL including your team secret.
2. Configure the Alert
Under Settings -> Alerts you can now configure the alerts according to your needs. Make sure you use the SIGNL4 Alert Channel you have configured above.
3. Test it
That is it and now you can test the alert. You can do so either directly in the alerting channel by sending a test alert or you can simulate an issue and trigger the alert this way. As a result you will receive an alert in your SIGNL4 app.
SIGNL4 can further increase the visibility of alerts through its Signals and Services section. Augmenting the color and icon of alerts will provide more relevant information at a glance without having to open the alert.
Change Alert Color and Override Title + Text
Override text, colors and titles are triggered by keywords set within the mobile app.
